Judy Openlander at Toldedo Public Library

This is Judith Mary Openlander about 1962. She already has her BA from St. Mary's College, Notre Dame, Indiana and her Masters in Library Science from the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor. Judy worked at the Toledo Public Library before being invited to join the staff at the University of Notre Dame's new Memorial Library (with the thirteen story mural affectionately known as "the touchdown Jesus."

I met Judy at the Library where I was doing research for Professor Rhodes of the Law School. Something about the medieval rolls of the Bishops of York and Lancaster, perhaps. I needed help and I asked the young lady for assistance.

One thing lead to another. Before a year had passed....
