Stillife with Glass Fish

Still Life with Glass Fish. The Fish is Venetian Glass. The gravy boat is hand wrought silver that my parents brought back from Mexico in 1939. The book on the table is the illustrated first edition of Van Loon's Lives, from about 1942, which was a lovely book except for the author's blithe anti-Catholicism. The platter is Bavarian cut crystal. It was a wedding gift (one of many!) from Uncle Claude. The old oriental carpet is painted with all the worn spots showing. It now lies in a landfill somewhere. The Window belonged to Ron Newman, whose Artist's Workshop was where I got my first training. When the painting was finished, he set it up next to the actual still life and invited people to compare them.
