Girl with Red Hat-after Vermeer

This is my copy of Jan Vermeer's Girl with a Red Hat .This is one of the earliest paintings I did as a serious artist. It took forever although the copy and the original are only 7" by 9." I knew nothing about technique at the time.

I have one thing in common with Vermeer. At the time of his death, he had sold almost nothing. He was in the fabrics (dry-goods) business. I suspect he devoted as little time to that as possible and that he painted mostly for his own pleasure.
